Ship Bottom

Ship Bottom is the first town you enter as you come onto LBI.  It is home to the Original Ron Jons and the new Hotel LBI.  It is a mix of commercial and residential.  Ship Bottom has the benefit of being near the causeway reducing your travel to your beach house, but being near the causeway also has its drawbacks.  Since Ship Bottom is the first town as you enter the island, many people use Ship Bottom’s beaches in the summer months.  Thus, you may find the beaches in Ship Bottom to be more crowded than other LBI beaches.

Ship Bottom offers single family homes, duplexes, commercial real estate and condominiums.  Ship Bottom lot sizes vary from narrow lots with less than 30’ of frontage to 50’ x 100’ lots.   Ship Bottom tends to be one of the more affordable locations on the island due to its close proximity to the causeway.    Ship Bottom is also a good rental section of the island due to its mix of commercial and residential and close proximity to the bridge.  However, one should consider where the home is in reference to the beach as Ship Bottom is “wide” in sections which can lead to long walks to the beach depending where you are in Ship Bottom.  Also, the bay side of Ship Bottom can be prone to flooding so this is also something one should consider when looking at Properties in Ship Bottom.
