Barnegat Light is the northern most end of the island. It is home to the Barnegat Lighthouse, and offers a mix of commercial and residential properties. Barnegat Light is home to the commercial fishermen and the Historic Viking Village. Viking Village was founded in the 1920s and offers some great shopping which can provide a very good activity on rainy days. Depending on where you are in Barnegat Light you could find yourself walking quite a distance to get to the beach. Long beach walks in Barnegat Light results in some super neat and picturesque “trails” that meander through the dunes. The trails are perfect if you are looking for some peace and quiet. As Barnegat Light is at the Northern most end of the island, during the summer, it could take you 40 plus minutes to get to Barnegat Light from the causeway. Barnegat Light is also unique in that it does not share the 08008 zip code that the rest of LBI shares, but rather the zip code for Barnegat Light is 08006 and all of the residents of Barnegat Light go to the Barnegat Light Post Office to obtain their mail.
